Location and Access to Torrevieja, Alicante

Torrevieja rests comfortably next to the Mediterranean Sea on the Valencia region's Costa Blanca. It's conveniently located 35km from Alicante's El Altet airport and 28km from Murcia's San Javier airport, which gives you plenty of flight options only 40 minutes from your Spanish home's doorstep.

Getting to Torrevieja from the Airports

  • El Altet and San Javier both have multiple local car rental agencies, as well as international operators like Avis, Europa and Europcar. Cars are usually easy to come by, though it's best to book in advance to save waiting in line and to guarantee your choice of vehicle.
  • The mayor of Torrevieja recently announced that there will soon be regular bus service running between El Altet airport and Torrevieja. This service should alleviate much of the need for rental cars simply going to and from the airport. If you'd still like a rental car for day trips outside Torrevieja, you can easily and cheaply rent one in town.
  • A taxi between El Altet airport and Torrevieja is typically €50 to €60. Prices are similar for San Javier airport.
